2023/24 Season Announced
Seven Special Plays at The Wharf from September
As we approach the final play of our 2022/23 Season, Lovesong; Romiley Little Theatre are proud to announce the seven productions which will make up our 2023/24 Season.
This is the first time we have launched a whole year of plays in one go, as our first full season at The Wharf was split between an Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer season. We hope this balanced selection of plays has something for everyone with new writing, classic comedy and heightened drama all included.

Peter Nichols' 1967 play centres on a couple who are struggling to raise their only child who has cerebral palsy. Caring for her has occupied nearly every moment of their lives since her birth, taking a heavy toll on their marriage.

Stewart Pringle's play tenderly, but truthfully explores love and ageing, asking how we choose to live in the face of soaring life expectancies. Two retirees meet at the village hall both with different views on retirement.

Arguably the most famous edition of Play For Today, Mike Leigh's classic 70s comedy of British manners sees middle-class suburbia revealing its darker side over the course of an increasingly uncomfortable drinks party hosted by the atrocious Beverly.

Rob Johnston's adaptation, originally commissioned and produced for the Hyde Festival Theatre Company, sets Strindburg's naturalistic play about two people fighting to maintain dominance over one another in post-war Northern England. This revival reunites Adam Urey and Susie Miner from the original production.

Someone Who'll Watch Over Me
Wednesday 26 - Saturday 29 June 2024
Frank McGuinness's award-winning play explores the daily crisis endured by three hostages being held captive by terrorists in Beirut. Powerless to initiate change in their circumstances they learn through resentment and recrimination, and eventually, humour more about themselves and their lives before captivity.
Tickets will go on sale on our website from 9am on Monday 15 January. Due to the rising costs everyone is experiencing we have had to increase our ticket prices to £11, which we still in line with other groups in the area, To offset this we are also introducing a Season Ticket, which will allow you to pay in advance for all seven shows at the discounted price of £10 per production. More information about this will be published prior to the season going on sale.
