Oldham Library
Following two successful runs last year, Love Letters returns to play at Oldham Library.
A tender, tragi-comic, and nuanced examination of the shared nostalgia, missed opportunities, and deep closeness of two lifelong, complicated friends. Spanning numerous decades and locations, it is staged simply, with the two actors letting their words describe a world of emotion.
When the young Andrew Makepeace Ladd III accepts an invitation to Melissa Gardner’s birthday party, Melissa writes him a thank you note… and a unique romantic friendship and delicately warm correspondence destined to last for many years is born.
This play is a favourite for busy actors, as it requires little preparation, and lines need not be memorized. As is the tradition this production will take the form of a rehearsed reading.
