As our current season comes to an end at the end of this month, it is time to reveal the plays which will be coming to The Wharf over the next 12 months.
We've reduced the programme to 6 productions this year, but due to popular demand we are extending the run of each one so that we open on a Tuesday and play for 5 nights.
This year we're thrilled to present a season bursting with unexpected twists, timeless romance, and laugh-out-loud comedy. From stranded office workers and world-ending pub quizzes to ground-breaking theatrical experiments and Tony-nominated classic revivals, our 2026/27 line-up truly has something for everyone.

Season Opening BBQ
Saturday 5 September
Kick off the season in style at our Opening Barbecue! Join us and fellow theatre lovers for a relaxed evening of delicious food, drinks and entertainment. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and find out more about our upcoming productions. Come hungry, leave excited!
Sheila's Island
1316 – 17 October 2026
What happens when an outward-bound team-building exercise goes hilariously wrong? From the brilliant mind of Tim Firth (Calendar Girls), Sheila's Island drops four middle-management executives onto a remote island in the Lake District. Armed with nothing but a single sausage and a lot of corporate baggage, this biting, laugh-out-loud comedy proves that surviving the wilderness is nothing compared to surviving your colleagues.
White Rabbit, Red Rabbit
24 - 28 November 2026
Experience a theatrical experiment like no other. Forbidden to leave his country, Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour wrote a play that travelled the world in his place. The catch? The actor is handed the script for the very first time as they step onto the stage. Wildly unpredictable, deeply personal, and completely unique to the night you attend, White Rabbit, Red Rabbit is an audacious, edge-of-your-seat journey.
Einstein's Daughter
9 - 13 February 2027
Rob Johnston revives his critically acclaimed, award-winning drama (2011 King's Cross Award) focused on Maggie, a withdrawn woman and the impact of her physicist father's choices.
With her father away delivering a lecture, an old schoolfriend comes back into Maggie's life. Cath, a ‘free radical’ threatens to become the catalyst for change in the father and daughter’s existence and when he returns the story takes an unexpected turn.
A Doll's House
16 - 20 March 2027
Henrik Ibsen’s legendary tale of a woman waking up to the reality of her marriage receives a breathtaking update in this acclaimed new version by Amy Herzog. Stripping away the excess to reveal the raw, urgent heart of Nora Helmer’s struggle, this fresh adaptation makes a 19th-century feminist classic feel like it was written yesterday. Gripping, intimate, and unforgettable.
The Last Quiz Night on Earth
4 - 8 May 2027
An asteroid is hurtling toward Earth, and we’ve only got a few hours left. So, what do we do? We host a pub quiz, obviously! Alison Carr’s smash-hit immersive comedy transforms the theatre into the local pub. Expect unexpected trivia, unresolved family drama, and plenty of laughs as the locals face the apocalypse the only way they know how. (Yes, you get to play the quiz!)
Same Time, Next Year
22 - 26 June 2027
One of the world's most beloved romantic comedies. George and Doris are both happily married to other people, but once a year, they meet in the same cozy inn for a secret weekend getaway. Spanning 25 years of shifting politics, changing fashions, and personal triumphs and tragedies, Same Time, Next Year is a hilarious and touching tribute to the enduring nature of love.
In addition to this roster of main productions we'll be dropping in our usual mix of social events, with promised returns for Wireless at the Wharf AND the 24 Hour Plays, plus productions by our RLT Academy, ActorsLab and other visiting companies.
The new season goes on sale from Monday 15 June at 10am - here
